Dragons Unlimited: Help make a difference in the lives of our kids

Join and Donate Today!

Thanks for a great year

As we wrap up the 2025-26 school year, we are filled with gratitude for everything we were able to accomplish thanks to the generosity of our members and donors. Thank YOU!

We hosted four socials open to the entire CISD community, regardless of age or ability: our annual tailgate, a fishing and cookie decorating event, a parents' social hour and our annual year-end celebration, popsicles and pizza in the park. We were thrilled at how well-attended our events were this year, as we continue to build the presence and community of Special Programs and the 25% of CISD students that it benefits.

Now in its third year, our Family Fun Night fundraiser raised almost $15,000, and we hosted several spirit nights throughout the year as well. Many thanks to Fajita Pete's, Shake Shack, Chipotle and Kendra Scott for your partnerships, as well as all our corporate sponsors - highlighted on our new Dragons Unlimited t-shirts - for their generous donations.

We are proud of how well we provided for our Special Programs staff this year, with morale boosters, holiday gifts and treats during training days. We fulfilled 14 grants totaling more than $10,000 - our highest ever! - and helped provide a sensory chair, 3D blocks, mini trampoline, wagon, dyslexia kit, switches and adapters, food certificate curriculum, teacher resources, special education field trips, and a variety of sports equipment for Partners in PE, such as a balance beam, scooter boards, directional strips, bowling balls, bocce set, adapted basketball and soccer supplies, hockey stick set and more! All of these grants ultimately benefit our students, enhancing their educational experiences. Finally, we were excited to have played a small part in the brand-new trailer from the Southlake Chamber of Commerce Leadership class, which will benefit Dragon Exchange, Special Olympics and the Special Programs Department.

Of course, none of this would be possible without YOU. Thanks for helping us in our mission to recognize, invest in, celebrate and support the faculty, students and parents of the Carroll ISD Special Programs community! Please don't forget to renew your membership so you don't miss a moment of the fun next year!

Dragon Exchange ready to Xcel

This partnership was months in the making, and we're so excited to see it to completion! Every year, the Southlake Chamber of Commerce's Leadership class selects a non-profit to benefit from the group's collective fundraising efforts. The Leadership class of 2025-26 selected CISD Special Programs as this year's recipient, thanks in part to connections made through the Booster. Their generous grant funded a new trailer for the department, which you are sure to see around town next year.

The trailer will serve as a pop-up store front for Dragon Exchange, a new store staffed by Dragon Xcel, which is the transition program for students in need of additional life skills and job training after high school. It will also be used by Special Olympics, as they travel to area events and competitions. We expect that the department and Booster can make use of it in other ways as well. We are so grateful to the Leadership class, and the many businesses and individuals who donated to this worthy project.

Seeking volunteers to support Special Programs

Do you have a child with an IEP or 504? Whether your student is in Pre-K, ESL, dyslexia, special education, transition program or simply receives a therapy or two to help build their skills, they are directly benefiting from CISD Special Programs services and staff.

The Booster for Special Programs is always looking for more helping hands to assist in our mission of recognizing, investing in, celebrating and supporting Special Programs students and staff. There are many ways to get involved, from board positions to campus liaisons, but all roles have a minimum time commitment and maximum reward for helping our students and staff succeed!
